Welcome back to The EchoDepth Signal.
Since Issue #1, we've launched our first live product, presented at Europe's largest defence training conference, and pitched to cybersecurity leaders at ECSO on the vulnerability no firewall can fix.
This issue is about what happens in the gap between speaking and being heard.
📣 The Big Story
We Built Something
Most presentation coaches will give you the same advice: slow down, make eye contact, vary your tone.
Good advice. But it doesn't tell you whether the room actually felt what you were trying to communicate.
EchoPitch is now live at echopitch.io
It's the first application we've built at Cavefish, and it was born from a question I couldn't shake during my MBA: why do so many strong presentations fail to convert?
The answer is rarely the information. It's the emotional signal.
A pitch that reads brilliantly on paper can land as nervous, unconvincing, or uncertain when delivered under pressure. Investors, interviewers, and buyers don't just hear what you say — they feel how you say it. And that feeling shapes every decision that follows.
|
"Businesses already measure financial risk and operational risk extremely well. We believe emotional risk is becoming just as important — because human decisions are often emotional before they are logical. EchoPitch is the first real-world example of how that can be measured."
— Jonathan Prescott, Founder & CEO, Cavefish

EchoPitch analyses the behavioural and emotional signals in your communication — confidence, trust, credibility, hesitation — so you understand how you're likely to be perceived before the high-stakes moment.
It's built for:
| Founders preparing for investor pitches |
| Executives ahead of board presentations |
| Candidates before final-round interviews |
| Sales teams going into enterprise conversations |
| Anyone where a single conversation can change everything |
|
The uncomfortable truth
Businesses measure financial risk, operational risk, and market risk with considerable precision. Almost nobody measures emotional communication risk — the risk that a strong message simply doesn't land the way it was intended. EchoPitch is the first tool built specifically to address that gap.

⚡ Quick Hits
🎖️ We Spoke at ITEC 2026 — Europe's Largest Defence Training Conference
In April, I presented "Feel to Know: Using Emotion to Measure Real Understanding" at ExCeL London, in the Human Performance Theatre at ITEC 2026.
The central question: does completion equal comprehension?
In defence training, an operator can complete a simulation, receive a pass mark, and still not have internalised what they learned in the way that matters — under pressure, in the field, when it counts. Existing assessment tools measure recall. They don't measure understanding.
EchoDepth fills that gap. By analysing emotional and behavioural signals during training scenarios, we can identify where instruction genuinely landed — and where it didn't — before operators encounter the situations that training was designed to prepare them for.
The question I was asked most after the session: "Can you tell if someone actually believes their training?"
That's exactly what we're building for.

🔐 ECSO Cardiff: The Vulnerability That Doesn't Have a CVE
Earlier this year, we presented at ECSO Cyber Solution Days in Cardiff — and the line that stopped the room:
|
"The most exploited vulnerability in your organisation doesn't have a CVE. It has a pulse."
|
Social engineering, insider threat, deception under pressure — these are fundamentally human problems that technical security infrastructure isn't designed to solve alone. EchoDepth sits at that intersection: not replacing security systems, but giving them the emotional intelligence layer they're currently missing.
If you work in cybersecurity leadership and want to understand what that looks like in practice — let's talk.

🃏 A Number Worth Sitting With
A Michigan State University study of 19,000+ AI interactions found that AI is dramatically better at catching lies (85.8% accurate) than recognising the truth (19.5% accurate).
What does that mean for AI communication analysis? It means most systems have a pessimistic baseline — trained on deception detection, they treat everything as potentially deceptive.
EchoDepth takes a different approach. We're not looking for deception. We're looking for authentic signal: the confidence, alignment, and trust indicators that predict whether a message will influence a decision.
There's a critical difference between "is this person lying?" and "is this person believed?"
The second question is the one that actually matters.

🧠 So, What Is EchoDepth?
|
6
emotions detected by most platforms
|
vs |
52
emotional states detected by EchoDepth
|
Most emotion AI gives you six emotions and a dashboard. EchoDepth maps 52 distinct emotional states — the real complexity of how humans actually feel, not the simplified version.
And where most tools look backwards (what happened in that meeting?), we're built to look forwards: what's likely to happen next?
We don't do surveillance. We don't diagnose. We don't score individuals. We give decision-makers a clearer emotional signal — so they can act with more confidence, more humanity, and more impact.
